Keep conversations organized with threads and find any message with search.

Threads

What are Threads?

Threads let you have focused conversations attached to a specific message, keeping the main channel clean.

Starting a Thread

1. Hover over a message
2. Click Reply in thread
3. Type your reply
4. Thread shows in side panel

Thread Indicators

Messages with threads show:

• Reply count
• Participant avatars
• "View thread" link

Thread Notifications

• Get notified when someone replies to your thread
• Configure in notification settings

Pinned Messages

Important messages that should be easy to find:

Pinning a Message

1. Hover over the message
2. Click the pin icon
3. Message added to Pinned panel

Viewing Pinned

1. Click the pin icon in channel header
2. See all pinned messages
3. Click to jump to original

Unpinning

1. Hover over pinned message
2. Click unpin icon

Saved Messages

Bookmark messages for later:

Saving a Message

1. Hover over message
2. Click bookmark icon
3. Message saved

Viewing Saved

1. Click your profile
2. Select Saved Messages
3. All saved messages listed

Scheduled Messages

Send messages at a future time:

1. Type your message
2. Click arrow next to Send
3. Select Schedule
4. Pick date and time

Managing Scheduled

• View in Scheduled Messages panel
• Edit or cancel before send time

Message Search

Find any message across all channels:

Basic Search

1. Click search icon
2. Type search terms
3. See matching messages

Search Filters

Refine your search:

• From: Messages from specific user
• In: Messages in specific channel
• Has: Messages with attachments, links, etc.
• Before/After: Date range

Search Syntax

• from:@john — From John
• in:#engineering — In engineering channel
• has:file — Has file attachment
• before:2024-01-01 — Before date

Message Forwarding

Share a message to another channel:

1. Hover over message
2. Click Forward
3. Select destination channel
4. Add optional comment
5. Send
