Sending Messages

Type in the message box and press Enter (or click Send).

Rich Text Formatting

• Bold: **text** or Ctrl+B
• Italic: *text* or Ctrl+I
• Strikethrough: ~~text~~
• Code: Backticks
• Code blocks: Triple backticks with language

Links

URLs are automatically detected and made clickable. Link previews show for supported sites.

Emoji

Emoji Picker

Click the smiley face to open the emoji picker:

• Search emojis by name
• Recent emojis at top
• Categorized sections

Emoji Shortcodes

Type shortcodes that convert to emoji:

• :smile: → 😊
• :thumbsup: → 👍
• :fire: → 🔥
• :heart: → ❤️

400+ shortcodes supported.

Reactions

React to messages with emoji:

1. Hover over a message
2. Click the reaction button
3. Select an emoji

Quick reactions available: 👍 ❤️ 😂 😮 😢 🎉 🔥 👀

File Sharing

Uploading Files

• Drag and drop onto chat
• Click attachment button
• Paste from clipboard

Supported Types

• Images (PNG, JPG, GIF)
• Documents (PDF, DOC, etc.)
• Any file type

File Previews

Images show inline. Other files show as download links.

GIF Picker

Send GIFs via Tenor integration:

1. Click GIF button
2. Search for a GIF
3. Click to send

Trending GIFs shown by default.

Link Previews

When you share a URL, FanDesk fetches:

• Page title
• Description
• Preview image

Supported on most websites.

Mentions

Mentioning Users

Type @ followed by name:

• @john — Notifies John
• Autocomplete suggests matches

Special Mentions

• @channel — Notify all channel members
• @everyone — Notify everyone (use sparingly)
